During his 34 years teaching high school, he directed the school musical every year. He stayed involved with hockey and sports by refereeing, running marathons and coaching.

Denny stays busy with part time jobs like subbing at the local prison in the Education Department and at local high schools. He also paints houses, golf and travels. Denny volunteers with organizations like Grandma’s Marathon, Carlton County Theatre group, St Jude's Hospital, Lion’s Club as well as the local sports teams in the area.
