War on the Shore Fishing Tournament

Get your fishing poles ready

Bemidji State University's fifth annual War on the Shore Fishing Tournament returns on July 8, 2023. Prepare for a full day of competition within Beltrami County to find out who will be crowned as the new BSU Football Champion Fisher of the Year.

The tournament is open to the public and all proceeds support BSU's back-to-back NSIC championship football program. Compete for cash prizes, merchandise and bragging rights.

Rules

  • Cost: $300 per boat (maximum of three people per boat)
  • Eligible species are limited to northern pike and walleye
  • Participants must submit pictures of each fish caught on the fishdonkey.com app
    • First photo: measured on the board
    • Second photo: hero shot
  • Only pictures submitted during the tournament timeframe (6 a.m.-2 p.m.) will be counted
  • Rankings will be determined by the seven longest walleyes and three largest northern pike
  • Prizes will be awarded based on the total length of the 10 caught fish.
    • In the event of a tie, the biggest walleye will determine final ranking

Winnings (based off of 25 registered boats)

  • First place: $2,000
  • Second place: $1,000
  • Third place: $500
  • Biggest walleye: $200
