Caroline (Dahl) Andrican

Bemidji State University Graduate 1953 & 1962

Ms. Andrican was born and raised in Hibbing, MN and returned to this small northeastern Minnesota town after receiving a Provisional Elementary Education degree from Bemidji State Teacher's College in 1953. While teaching, she continued her education and completed coursework for a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1962.  She taught elementary school for twenty five years in the Hibbing school district and earned the distinction of being nominated to Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary international sorority for outstanding educators, serving as State President for two years.  After retiring from teaching, Ms. Andrican started her own business selling and appraising antiques.  Through this business, she conducts estates sales, appraises and evaluates estates for banks and law firms and is a member of an antique co-operative.  Ms. Andrican has been a longtime volunteer for BSU, having served on the Alumni Association Board of Director's for almost twenty years, eight of which were as the Board's President.  She also represented the Alumni Association on the BSU Foundation's Board of Director's, served on a Presidential Search Committee and was a volunteer in the Alumni Legislative Network.  Ms. Andrican hosts a crafts sale on campus each December with items she makes and donates all proceeds to the Alumni Scholarship Endowment Account.  Ms. Andrican and her husband, Boris, have also created an endowed scholarship within the Foundation for education majors.  Ms. Andrican is a member of the BSU Foundation's Legacy Society, a planned gift recognition program and serves as a member of its advisory committee.  In addition to her contributions to BSU, Ms. Andrican is an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing.  Ms. Andrican and Boris make their home in Hibbing, MN.
