
Peter Maus graduated from BSU in 1979 with a degree in mathematics. During his tenure as a Beaver he was a four-year letter winner in baseball, excelling both as a pitcher and a catcher. Pete earned All Conference and All District catcher awards in 1978 and All Conference and All District pitcher awards in 1979. Among his accomplishments that season was a no hitter he threw against Southwest State. He returned to BSU as an assistant coach, and helped coach the Beavers to the College World Series in 1982. Pete played semi-professional ball in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in Canada for seven years before beginning a 25 year teaching and coaching career at Northfield High School in Minnesota. Like his days as a baseball player, Pete also had a stellar career as a coach, with his teams earning over 350 wins, five conference championships, three section final four appearances and in 2002 his team placed third in the state Class A tournament. He was named Section 1AAA Coach of the Year in 2002, Missota Conference Coach of the Year five times and Northfield Coach of the Year in 2000. In addition to his high school coaching duties, Pete has been instrumental in founding and sustaining the Northfield Youth Baseball Association, which has over 900 participants annually. Pete and his wife, Lynda, have five children, Ryan, Josh, Celeste, Sam and Tim, and make their home in Northfield, Minnesota.
